Technology invades us and surrounds us wherever we go. And the business environment is no stranger to it. But sometimes it can be overwhelming and the amount of jargon, concepts and ideas with which it approaches us can generate doubts or rejection to its adoption.
Without a doubt, we will remember 2018 as a fantastic year for Serimag. The work and effort made during the last years is consolidating and the numbers prove it. TAAD is becoming more and more established as a reference in the sector and a fully consolidated solution.
During the last 6 years we have invested in R&D to achieve advanced knowledge in the areas of Machine Learning, Neural Networks, Computer Vision and Natural Language Processing. And we have been applying it little by little in projects in real environments where we have managed to automate a multitude of document processes. Looking back over the past 12 months, the numbers have been truly spectacular. Sometimes it is almost vertiginous just to glimpse their magnitude, but TAAD’s robustness allows them to be taken on without any problems.
If we look at each and every page that has entered the system and the system has been able to process, we are talking about a whopping 400 million pages (wait, I repeat: 400,000,000,000 pages!). If we take into account that a mortgage application at a bank requires an average of 30 pages, we can think of the enormous amount of documentation that has to be processed. To this end, the system has been scaled up and adapted to more than 30 servers with more than 2,000 cores constantly processing. In addition, this year Serimag has among its partners the services of Acens, providing robustness and reliability to the production systems.
We have increased our client base with top national firms in the banking, insurance and real estate sectors. With them we have more than 40 projects in production with different types of documentation and requirements. Our solution has resulted in time savings of more than 1.6 million hours of manual processing and cost savings of between 1 and 2 million euros.
Beyond the solution itself, Serimag’s true potential lies in the experience and knowledge of its entire team. And this great little family has continued to increase its ranks with 8 new additions that give us the lungs and muscle to continue offering the same quality of service. But we have also strengthened ties with important partners such as Indra and Tessi Graddo, who provide support and added value to a complete solution for customers. And we cannot forget the collaboration agreements with important research centers such as the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC). Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC), the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) the Computer Vision Center of the Autonomous University of Barcelona (CVC), and the and the TALP of the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC). . With them we have successfully closed new developments and opened up new challenges to be investigated.
But this year we have taken a step forward and stepped out of our comfort zone. We have attended important trade fairs worldwide, such as the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona or industry benchmarks such as the Digital Enterprise Show in Madrid and the AI Summit in London . More than 30 countries and 300 companies showed their interest in our solution, which shows the concern and need that exists in the market worldwide. But we have not stopped there and together with ICEX we have established relationships in countries such as Luxembourg, Switzerland and the United Arab Emirates. Serimag has not hesitated to offer the solution to countries with new languages and methodologies.
The best thing about living a great year is the excellent prospects for the times to come. The hard and constant work pays off and the firm step, the tranquility in the progress. This 2019 is going to be full of news and the first of all will come in the form of new offices that we hope to be able to show you very soon. The workplace is vital for our team and for those who come to meet and collaborate with us. And of course you are all invited to meet them! New offices of 700m2 and large workspaces with the goal of reaching a team of 40 people specialized in Machine Learning to share solutions with our customers and partners.
The sights are set very high. They say that one must aim for the stars to reach the moon. New markets, new customers, new challenges, new partnership agreements… Serimag’s machinery does not stop. But we will continue with the same desire to innovate, to establish ourselves as a reference in the sector, and to demonstrate to the customer the strength of a fully consolidated proposal.
